Good and Bad

The good news is I have recently been back in touch with some of my relatives that I have not seen for many many years. By chance on the internet, I happened across my second cousin Robert. He is a lawyer in Austin. His mom Mary lives in the Dallas area. She is more like an Aunt to me. Mary was always a very private person. I guess that is where I get it from. I also got email from Shelley, she is my second cousin. I have never known her, so this is really a treat to see and hear about all these people. They are all from my Dad's side of the family. I have not seen Mary since my first wedding party. The strange coincidence is that I played the song listed in the post below at that party. That party was in 1979, so it has been a while. Shelley sent me some really awesome pics of everybody.
The bad news is Sharon has been sick for over a week. It has slowed her down some, but she is most independent, and will not ask for help. So I give it without her asking when I can. My arm continues to heal and I can play guitar a little bit. Mostly play only the cowboy chords, but it is nice to play again. I have been having trouble with my neck since the accident. Dr. Kweller thinks it is a pinched nerve and will heal. I am now immune to pain meds. They do nothing for pain anymore. Time is my only option now. I am finally sleeping better and that helps a bunch. I am trying hard not to get depressed, but every now and then I do. Sharon is a great inspiration, whether she knows it or not. Glad to have Rachel and Mikey coming back with more In the Attic. Looking forward to them touring this summer. Thanks again for all your kind words and prayers.

I am glad to hear you are trying to keep your spirits and you are lucky to have Sharon to help you and she is lucky to have you. I hope she is on the mend soon too. I can only imagine playing your guitar wi great therapy for your arm and soul. Keep it up!

Heheh, one armed paper hanger, that's cute, Meg!
Been busier lately myself, I gotta admit!
Hey, this sucks about the pain, I do know, believe it or not. Bigtime. I did the same thing, sleep. When the pills don't work, etc. But you're healing, slowly but surely.
God, I hope that pinched nerve heals fast, that shit is excrutiating, I know!!!Just don't do anything to make it worse, like get new pillows thinking it would help. Might kink it worse. That's happened to me, lol.
Don't go to a chiroquackter, please.
Your "real" Doc probably said this to you.
You have too many valid hard-core medical problems to go. They'll "F" you up worse. Maybe you know this already, I hope so! And I mean no offense to chiropractors. Heheh...xoxo
Hey,BTW, that's amazing about talking to all thsoe family members, this is something I've only thought about doing but can't seem to bring myself to do the research. As you know, it brings up a lot of different feelings, emotions.
But I'm so happy for you, keep your chin up - hahah, maybe it will help your neck! lolol JK

Hey Joe-
I'm so sorry to hear that you are in pain. I have such a low pain threshold...I can understand how you would get depressed. Does playing your guitar help - maybe take your mind off the pain? That's great that you can at least play "cowboy chords" which are???
Hope Sharon feels better soon too.
Hey maybe you both need "chocolate therapy!" I saw a listing for a lecture at a holistic health college in San Diego called "Healing with Chocolate." I've decided to can my dream of becoming a music therapist and switch to "chocolate therapist!"
Take care,
Sue
PS In answer to your question - NO! I am not generous with my ice cream. Ever.

Take care of yourself, cutie-pie, so you can take care of your Sharon. :)

Well aren't you fancy with your French Press Coffee! oh la la!

Sharon and I have a lot in common it looks like...when we are sick! I hope she feels better!

I am also glad to hear about your arm! I hear you on the pain meds! I got that way after I had my baby and had major surgery after. Nothing seemed to work except Morphine and I couldn't exactly be a stay at home mom on that! LOL Can you say Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Hi Joe,
looks like we are both in the wars. I'm going to see the doctor today to see what he thinks, hopefully he can offer something other than what I am doing.

The only thing that sticks out as the cause is running through JFK with three carry on bags trying to make our connection back from London, other than that I haven't lifted anything particularly heavy. I'm used to lifting, used to unload 40ft containers of antiques so, it's unusual to have this sort of problem.

I really dig those Ben Kweller CD's, interesting that part of his name is Weller, another one of my fave's.

I hope Sharon gets well soon also.
