To all my BLOG FAMILY, I wish you all a Healthy and Happy New Year. Thanks to all of you. You are all special to me. Please be safe. We have not had rain in months and wildfires are going all over the place. Texas is burning. Well at least some spots in North Texas.

Natalie and Friends

Friday night before Sharon and I left for the Pax Romana show, I had the opportunity to take a few photos. Natalie is very active in her school and church. She had a couple of friends over for a sleep over. Now I know girls did not look like models when I was their age. Must be something in the water in Merit Texas.

PAX ROMANA LAST NIGHT'S SHOW

Here you go Molly. Pics of Cabana Boy at his best. The band followed a really awesome band last night. I kept saying to each member that I would not want to follow that act. I did this on purpose. Before Pax went on I told the whole band that when they take the stage, it belongs to them. Take the attitude that anyone who violates the area will be killed and that God had given them huge genitalia tonight and they should use it to destroy anything in their path. The pep talk really worked. The boys blew down the walls and put on their best show ever. I was so impressed that I was shaking their hands and hugging them. Pax Romana is Brandon Shaver - Guitar, Jess Spires - Vocals, Ben Kennedy - Bass, and Sean Benfield - Drums and Percussion.
2006 is going to be really fab for them.

And So This is Christmas

I guess I can say Christmas came a little early this year. With all that Rachel and Pete have been giving us. Lots of their music, along with Mikey and Simon. Lets not forget The Vibrants. I have been given an extended family in all my blog mates. We share good and bad. When I started this blog, I never realized how much a blog can do. It is amazing, and I thank all of you for this. Another way Christmas came early this year, a women has come into my life. I have known her for almost 3 years. We have been friends, and both of us had been involved with other people. With both of us ending up at the same spot. She was so kind to me when I was ill. I was always attracted to her, and I think she was to me. She showed me interest, but at the time, I was not really well enough to appreciate it. She ask me out (I was flattered), and now we see each other on a regular basis. Her name is Sharon. Such a pretty woman, with such a kind nature. She lives in the country with her horses, llamas, geese, ducks, dog, and cats. She has 3 lovely daughters and 1 son. I have been truly blessed and feel so lucky to end this year this way. This year started out for me with tragedy, illness, and even the loss of a dear friend. This year ends for me in a fantastic way. I have next year to look forward to my CD release, my son's band CD. And of course working on growing my new relationship. I am so happy for Gary, he got to go home to England and see the Basement Jam as did Marietta and many other bloggers. Thanks again to you all. I wish all the best, and never forget there is a silver lining. Here are some pics of Sharon and her 2 teenage daughters. Left to right is Danielle, Sharon, and Natalie. Natalie lives with Sharon. Danielle lives with her Dad in Allen Texas. And last but not least "The Gang of Four" Sharon's llamas.

The Lyrics to a Song

This is the lyrics to a song by a Texas boy, Robert Earl Keen. It is the one I have chosen to cover for my CD. It is very country, but I will put my spin on it. I will post a demo soon. Yes that is right. I will come off my high horse (is the horse loaded?) and post one. All of my blog family will get a copy of the cd when it drops. Robert spins these stories in all his songs. This has been covered by The Highwaymen, Counting Crows and others. I just really like it and it is going to be a great challenge to make it work in my style.

Keen Robert Earl
The Road Goes On Forever
Album: The Party Never Ends

Sherry was a waitress at the only joint in town
She had a reputation as a girl who'd been around
Down Main Street after midnight with a brand new pack of cigs
A fresh one hangin' from her lips and a beer between her legs
She'd ride down to the river and meet with all her friends
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

Sonny was a loner he was older than the rest
He was going into the Navy but he couldn't pass the test
So he hung around town he sold a little pot
The law caught wind of Sonny and one day he got caught
But he was back in business when they set him free again
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

Sonny's playin' 8-ball at the joint where Sherry works
When some drunken outta towner put his hand up Sherry's skirt
Sonny took his pool cue laid the drunk out on the floor
Stuffed a dollar in her tip jar and walked on out the door
She's runnin' right behind him reachin' for his hand
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

They jumped into his pickup Sonny jammed her down in gear
Sonny looked at Sherry and said lets get on outta here
The stars were high above them and the moon was in the east
The sun was settin' on them when they reached Miami Beach
They got a hotel by the water and a quart of Bombay gin
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

They soon ran out of money but Sonny knew a manWho knew some Cuban refugees that delt in contraband
Sonny met the Cubans in a house just off the route
With a briefcase full of money and a pistol in his boot
The cards were on the table when the law came bustin' in
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

The Cubans grabbed the goodies and Sonny grabbed the Jack
He broke a bathroom window and climbed on out the back
Sherry drove the pickup through the alley on the side
Where a lawman tackled Sonny and was reading him his rights
She stepped into the alley with a single shot .410
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

They left the lawman lyin' and they made their getaway
They got back to the motel just before the break of day
Sonny gave her all the money and he blew her a little kiss
If they ask you how this happened say I forced you into this
She watched him as his taillights disappeared around the bend
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

Its Main Street after midnight just like it was before
21 months later at the local grocery store
Sherry buys a paper and a cold 6-pack of beer
The headlines read that Sonny is goin' to the chair
She pulls back onto Main Street in her new Mercedes Benz
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

I Did not Miss It

I wound up going to a rehearsel and thought damn I am going to miss the Basement Jam. I get back to my studio last night around 9PM and boom. I didn't miss it because the broadcast failed. I laughed out loud because I was really torn between leaving or staying to watch. The Loop will be just fine, I tend to leave Towser TV on and cranked up most of time anyway downstairs. To all that were present for it, I am very happy for you. For the performers, thanks for everything. For Pete, I don't think I can ever thank him enough for all the lessons he taught me as I listened and watched. Whether it was on Vinyl, Cassette, CD, VHS, DVD, or live.

For Molly Cabana Boy #2

Ballerinagurl has requested more pics of Cabana Boy #2 aka Sean Joseph Benfield (my son)
So here is 2 that I have. My best friend Seano has made me so happy lately. To see all my influences in music transferred to him is something that brought tears of joy. Much love to my blog family, and I wish you all a great weekend. See ya on Molly's chat Sunday during the big show.
