Buck Has Died

Buck Owens, a Texan passed away Saturday. I just found out, and I am deeply saddened by this. Whether many of us in the music community know it or not, Buck's music has reached us all. The Beatles covered one of his songs. The Bakersfield sound has changed Pop and Country music forever. As a child, my family TV times usually included Buck. Americana has lost an Icon. His music lives forever.

March is Almost Gone

It is Spring time. Cold today, but a great weekend is here. I missed ITA this week. I think I really missed laughing as we chat during the show. Hope everyone has Voted for Rach and Pete for their single up on IAC. Gary has made me immortal in a song. Life is GOOD. My son's band is going through a lineup change as well as a name change. A new singer and an additional guitarist. Time will tell how this will turn out. Sharon has softball practice tonight. It will probably be freezing cold. I will be there only for support. My days of playing sports are long over. Besides it is hard to play baseball with a bad arm. I seem to have lost the spark to head into my studio and record my own stuff. I am playing a lot, but usually sitting on my bed. My arm is back to about 40% of what it was. It has been a difficult week. Dealing with peoples lack of a brain sucks. I guess I need to be more open minded. Molly heads to LA. I am ready for some hot weather. Taking a week off in June for a beach fix. Later I hope to have a party with live music in Sharon's beautiful and huge backyard. Live music, drinks, pool, jacuzzi, and Texas BBQ.
YEEEEEEHAAAAAA
Have a great weekend!

DWIGHT at Billy Bobs Texas

I had not seen Dwight Yoakam play live since 1995. I am addicted to his old band leader and guitarist Pete Anderson's playing. I admit it. I had mixed feelings about the show last Saturday night because Dwight now has a stripped down 5 piece with Keith Gattis playing guitar. Keith is very good in his own right, but no where near Pete Anderson. As usual Dwight hit the stage at 10:30, the posted time for the show to begin. He is always on time as he is respectful to his audience and fans. He left the stage after about 3 hours of playing everything worth listening to from his first release up to his latest "Blame the Vain" CD. I thought the walls and ceiling were going to fall in. People were screaming and clapping him back out for an encore. He played 2 more songs ending the show with Intentional Heartache. A white trash love gone bad song that is just too fucking cool. So I have to admit that I am really addicted to Mr. Anderson and Mr Yoakam's playing. It is kind of in another spectrum of music that I play. There is a little Honky Tonk in all musicians. Yes even Pete Townshend has a little Honky Tonkin in him. Sharon was really impressed by the show. My name is Joseph and I am a guitar addict. Hi Joseph!!!!

OFF TO COWTOWN

Went to a banquet last night as Sharon's date. Had a really great time. They had a DJ and watching some of the white folks dance was really interesting. I told Sharon when we started this relationship that I was no dancer, just a guitar player. On the other hand she is a hell of a dancer. I danced a few times, but the best was slow dancing to Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight. A fantastic time was had by all. Now it is off to Fort Worth aka Cow Town for a Dwight Yoakam show and a Garden Show on Sunday. Hope all is well with all you wacky bloggers. I am proud to be in your ranks. The Corp Elite. All my best to all of you. Have a great weekend.

On Track

First off thanks go out to all the bloggers that chatted yesterday during ITA. I think Molly has done a fantastic job with Kid Ric in hosting these. Episode One Season Two. Rachel and the Boys were spot on. Mikey really has spread his wings. Simon, Pete, and Rogers birthday wow. Thanks to all at ITA. I produced a 6 song EP for a singer last weekend. Thirty six hours later it was mastered and I was a wreck. I am finally getting day and night straight again with the help of Lunestra, and Sharon's support. Sharon's youngest will be at her house this weekend. The second sweetest woman I know Danielle Banks. Its going to be a great month. Next weekend Sharon and I will be going to a Dwight Yoakam show. As my Great Aunt Noni would say "HOT DAMN!"
My best to you all. Life is Good.
